2017 for HMQG

Happy New Year!

It is already 2017, can you believe it?

A belated Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah (Hanukkah Sameach), and Happy New Year to everyone. I hope you had time to rest, recharge, and relax with family, loved ones, and friends.

The new year also welcomes a new board to the Houston Modern Quilt Guild. I have assumed the mantle of President from Debbie, who did an amazing job leading the guild in 2016. We grew our membership, discovered more about our modern quilting community in Houston and across the US, and held inspiring events. Thank you to Debbie and all the 2016 board members for their wonderful work - it is appreciated by us all.

The new board is ready to hit the ground running. We've got lots of great ideas (and are always looking for more!) that we'll be working to roll out soon. Contact any of us if you have a suggestion. The board members and their contact email are listed in the newsletter footer.

We are actively looking for Committee Chairs. Please consider joining the board as a Chair and help us keep the events and community going. The time commitment is minimal and you can recruit members for your committee to assist. We are currently looking for chairs for our Industry Liaison, Sunshine, Retreat, and Meet-up Committees. Contact me if you have any questions.

One last piece of business is our annual renewal of dues. This newsletter is being sent to our 2016 membership. To stay on the email list for the February newsletter, you must renew your membership. Instructions are listed below and we will be discussing it at our January meeting (Jan 21st).

Let's make 2017 another great year for HMQG.,
Stephanie Freeman
HMQG President
