August 6th Nightly Sew In

Meet us at St. Martin's Episcopal Church for our August Nightly Sew In.  You can bring whatever project you are currently working on as usual, or you can join in on a few of our group projects.

1.  Stragglers (like me!!) are finishing up their Quilt Con Blocks.  Those with extra fabrics in the Quilt Con colors are invited to bring them to the meeting to share.   In order to be considered for inclusion in the raffle quilt, block packages must be postmarked by August 15, 2012.  The block below is on the Modern Quilt Guild homepage and was submitted by Pat Hildebrand.  It is amazing, no??

Lunch Bag - tutorial coming soon ;)2.  By popular demand Gabby is teaching Pink Penguin's Lunch Bag Pattern.  To prepare please precut the the fabric pieces, which can be quilting weight, canvas or home dec. If you choose quilting weight it should be lined with Pellon 809.  Cut your materials to the following dimensions and check out Pink Penguin's blog if you have any questions.
  • Rim (4) 2  1/4 x 12 1/2
  • Outer bag (2) 9 x 12 1/2
  • Lining (2) 9 x 12 1/2
  • Cover (2) 8 x 12 1/2
  • Handle inner (2) 2 x 12
  • Handle outer (2) 2 x 12
  • 1 yard cording
3.  Our fabulous Liz will be teaching a basic class in pattern reading for those of us who only know how to quilt! We will be making the Amy Butler Barcelona skirt.  See link for fabric requirements and to purchase a pattern.

What are you going to choose?  Add a comment to our blog and let us know if you are planning to attend!

***  Note ***
The South Lot where we usually park will be closed for repairs so we will need to park in the front lots.  The lot may open back up after 6pm but just in case be prepared for a small hike from the front of the church.

  2. I just love how so many HMQG members are willing to share their skills and knowledge with the rest of us. It's one of the things I love most about this awesome group!
