Holiday Headstart

Join us for a fun day of tutorials to make quick easy items that would make great holiday presents!  Come to just one or all sessions!
NOTE:  If you would like a kit for each of the five tutorials, the total is $32.  Individual prices are listed below under each session’s supply list.

10:30-11:30 felt Christmas tree pins - Machelle
11:30-12:30 vinyl-bottom zipper pouch - Stephanie
12:30-1:00 lunch break - bring a sack lunch
1:00-2:00 key fobs- Debbie

Felt Christmas Tree Pins

Supplies List:
Felt scrap, at least 3” x 6”, any color, for tree
Brown felt scrap ¾” x ½”
Embroidery floss or perle cotton to coordinate with or contrast with your tree felt
Stuffing (batting scraps cut into ¼” square bits works great!)
Pin back
Hand sewing needle with an eye large enough for your floss
Kits to make 2 pins each will be available to purchase for $3 each.

Vinyl-Bottom Zip Pouch

Supplies Needed for 14" x 9" Zipper Pouch:

  • FQ for outside of pouch (14.5" x 15" piece)
  • 2 FQ or HY for inside of pouch (14.5" x 25" piece)
  • 11" x 14.5" piece of vinyl, faux leather, or leather
  • Lightweight or mediumweight interfacing (NOTE: if using canvas or duck cloth for outside of pouch, no interfacing needed)
  • 14" or longer plastic zipper
  • Sewing machine and basic supplies, including zipper foot for your machine
Prep List (strongly recommend to prepare your pieces to ensure you finish your zippy bag in 1 hour)
  • Cut and interface two (2) 14.5" x 7.5" pieces for outside of pouch
  • Cut two (2) 14.5" x 12.5" pieces for pouch lining
  • Cut two (2) 2" x 4" pieces from scraps or accent fabric (zipper ends)
  • Cut two (2) 14.5" x 5.5" pieces from vinyl (accent)


Kits with everything to make one pouch will be available to purchase for $7 each.
Zippers will be available for $2 each, and vinyl in assorted colors will be available for $3 for a piece large enough to make one pouch.

Fabric Key Fob

Supplies Needed for one Key Fob:
  • length of ribbon, measuring 10 inches x 1 inch wide, or fabric scrap, measuring 10 inches by 4 inches
  • fusible interfacing, measuring 10 inches x 1 inch
  • 1 ½” wide cotton webbing, 10 inches long
  • Key fob hardware
Sewing machine and basic supplies

Kits with everything to make two key fobs will be available to purchase for $5 each.
Key fob hardware will be available for $2 each.

Triangle Zip Pouch

Supplies Needed for one Triangle Zipper Pouch:

  • rectangle of cotton fabric, measuring 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches (exterior)
  • rectangle of cotton fabric, measuring 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches (lining)
  • bias tape measuring 9” in length (optional, to enclose interior seams)
  • length of ribbon, measuring 2 inches x 1/2 inch wide
  • fusible interfacing, measuring 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches
  • 4 inch metal zipper

Sewing machine and basic supplies, including zipper foot for your machine

Kits with everything to make two pouches will be available to purchase for $7 each.
Zippers will be available for $2 each.



One-Hour Apron

Supply list:

4 fat quarters (if you want to stick with fat quarters)
OR if you have yardage you want to use:
1 fat eighth (or scrap) for pocket
1 FQ (for middle panel)
1 half yard (for side panels, ties, and bottom ruffle)

{regular basic sewing needs:
coordinating thread
sewing machine
scissors
cutting mat/rotary cutter}

Optional:
FasTurn tube turners (I'll explain what they are and how to use them if you don't have them!)
Ruffle foot (I don't use this often!!)

Kits with four coordinating fat quarters to make one apron will be available to purchase for $10 each.
